This album contains photos from the summer driving trip we took in the Four Corners area of the U.S.
On this trip, we met a wonderful couple, Pauline and Steve, who lived in Santa Fe and ran the excellent Slowtrav web site. They invited us to their house for coffee and muffins and gave us a friendly welcome to the area. Thanks so much Pauline and Steve for your friendiness and hospitality!
The following is the driving itinerary that I drafted -- my goal was to drive no more than a couple of hours per day so that we can travel at a leisurely pace. We also want to rest at some interesting places. We managed to accomplish that goal for the most part of the trip, with the exception of the final leg returning to Albuquerque from Arizona, which took about six hours of driving. The itinerary is:
Day 1, Santa Fe, Indian Market Festival
Day 2, Santa Fe, visiting Georgia O'Keefe Museum
Day 3, Chimayo and Taos
Day 4, Pagosa Springs
Day 5, Million Dollar Highway to Telluride/Mountain Village
Day 6, Telluride, visiting nearby ghost towns
Day 7 Mesa Verde
Day 8, Chinle Arizona
Day 9, Visiting Window Rock Arizona en route back to Albuquerque
Day 10, Albuquerque
